Edith Renfrow Smith ’37 Gallery Show Application Information: 

The Edith Renfrow Smith ’37 Gallery Call for Student exhibition applications is announced bi-annually by the Art SEPC and Art Department
 
APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 16th, 2024 by 5 PM.
 
 
To apply for a Edith Renfrow Smith ’37 Gallery Show submit your proposal via email to: smithgallery@grinnell.edu
Please format proposals as a single reduced size(web-optimized) PDF document. 
 
Proposals must include the following:
 
• 300-word show description
Include detailed information on the physical & conceptual properties of the work and what you are investigating. Describe specifically how it will be installed in the Smith Gallery. Indicate any special equipment used and installation requirements.
 
• 3-5 images of work 
Images should relate to what you will install in Edith Renfrow Smith ’37 Gallery. If you plan to create new work please include supplemental plans, drawings, and digital mock ups, etc. Please note that the committee judges your work based on these images.
 
• A list of Studio Art and Art History courses taken, exhibitions you have participated in, and other relevant experiences.
 
• Discuss your proposed exhibition with a Studio Art faculty member and list this person as a reference.
 
 
Curatorial exhibition proposals are also accepted.
Exhibitions run for two weeks total, this includes installation and de-installation. If your proposal is selected you will be notified via email with informaiton about your exhibition dates, responsibilities for maintenance of the space, and info about publicity for the event.
 
 
Eligibility: Applicants must be Grinnell College Studio Art and Art History majors or students currently enrolled in a Grinnell College Studio Art course. Priority is given to: The 9th Semester Fellow, 4th-year Studio Art majors/students and MAP students, Art majors/group proposals from Art and Art History majors, and Studio Art Faculty sponsored Exhibitions.
